Heidi McGowan – Equine Assisted Learning
For me personally, one of the best things about life is the journey it takes us on when we are open to the opportunities it offers us.
Sometimes we just need to be that little bit brave and embrace it !
My love of nature and animals has always kept me grounded and I treasure the sense of peace they give me.
When an opportunity arose to work with horses and youth in an empathy based program it was the beginning of an incredible journey.
I realised that I could combine my passion for horses to help people experience the same sense of joy I get when heartwarming moments of connection and self discovery occur. My decision to become certified in Equine Assisted Learning has led to the creation of Soul 2 Soul meaningful learning- Skills for Life.
I’m so excited to share this unique learning experience with you with our amazing teachers – the horses!
It would be fair to say my affinity with nature stemmed from my childhood. I have especially wonderful memories of the time spent with my grandmother who shared her love of flowers and animals with me.
This led to my career in floristry in my hometown of Auckland. 2011 saw a big change in my life when I moved to the central North Island. I feel very fortunate to live in such a beautiful place ,with it’s amazing view of Mt Ruapehu on our lifestyle block with the horses and dogs. There have been so many memorable adventures and new opportunities and I feel so fortunate to be able to combine my two passions – horses and flowers !
